Financial Support

Our operating budget is met each year through annual fundraising activities, including our annual appeal to members and bird seed sale, and a predetermined percentage from our endowment fund.

We engage an independent certified public accounting firm to examine our financial books and records on a yearly basis. The accountant's reports are on file at the chapter office and available for examination during regular office hours. [Chapter Office]

Keeping the Birds Happy
October 2007 marks the 41st Annual Saw Mill River Audubon Bird Seed Sale. The bird seed sale raises critical operating support. When the sale started in 1965, bird seed was hard to come by and we had to work with nearby farmers just to get sunflowers seeds. The sale is completely run by volunteers.

No one imagined that the seed sale would be going strong more than 40 years later or have grown from 400 pounds of seed sold the first year to more than 25 tons of bird seed sold in later years.

It is with deep appreciation that we acknowledge the support from individuals, corporations, and foundations for our work over the past fifty-four years.

Saw Mill River Audubon endeavors to balance levels of activity with resources, and we are committed to building our endowment fund to guarantee the financial future of the organization well into the twenty-first century.

Saw Mill River Audubon is registered in New York State as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation.
