Storm Damage to Pinecliff Boardwalk
from February 25-27, 2010 Nor'easter

A nearby oak tree completely uprooted under the weight of over two feet
of wet and heavy snow. When it fell, it lifted the main boardwalk bridge
over 15 feet into the air breaking the bridge into three pieces.

If you visit Pinecliff Sanctuary during re-construction,
please note that this section of the boardwalk
is blocked off and is not open to the public. Please remind other visitors
and especially children to stay out of the construction area. Thanks.

We cleared away the broken bridge in the week following the storm..
Most of the decking boards were able to be salvaged
but all support structures needed to be rebuilt.

New supporting lumber was delivered 3/8/2010.

By 3/24/2010, our new bridge looked like this picture below!
We are awaiting delivery of new railings.

We are hopeful that the bridge will be fully completed by by mid-April.
