Are you or someone you know
an environmentally active adult or youth? If so, Saw Mill River Audubon encourages
you to apply for our environmental education scholarships. In the last 49 years,
the chapter has assisted over 140 young people and adults in pursuing summer environmental
studies.
The Larry
Light Memorial Scholarship Fund for Youth was established by the Light family
and their friends. The scholarship assists youth ages 13 to 17 years old that
wish to attend a summer camp, class or workshop with an emphasis on the environment.
Examples include a Westchester County ecology day camp, an oceanography institute,
or a National Wildlife Federation camp. Youth scholarship awards depend on the
program cost. Adults
interested in attending an environmental class, camp or workshop are invited to
apply for an Audubon adult scholarship. Adult scholarship awards are limited to
$600 per applicant. For
both adult and youth scholarships, selection is not based on financial need but
on level of interest shown in environmental topics through schoolwork or volunteer
activities. The applicant is responsible to find and select the program for which
they want scholarship assistance. Applications
