Fall 2018 Public Programs!

Saw Mill River Audubon connects you with free, intriguing and engaging evening programs every month between September and June.  We offer our programs at different locations across our membership area. Here is our line up of programs for Fall 2018.

Presented in both Spanish and English. Suitable for all ages. Ecuador has more than 1600 bird species, from the world’s largest flying bird, the Andean condor, to 130 different multicolored jewels in the hummingbird family. From the steaming Amazon, to breathtaking Andean peaks, to the wonder of the Galapagos, travel writer and SMRA board member Brian Kluepfel and Paula Zorrilla take you on a visual journey of the small country’s many natural wonders. Refreshments served. Thanks to our co-sponsor: the Ossining Public Library! Note that the library closes at 6:00 pm this day, so use the back-of-building entrance for the Budarz Theater.

Birding the Hudson Valley

Three years in the making and available this fall, Kathryn Schneider’s new book, “Birding the Hudson Valley,” covers birding hotspots, and the when and how of birding from Troy to New York City. Come hear about Kathy’s adventures in preparing this book about birding in the Hudson Valley. Free event. Suggested door donation of $5/person.

Come celebrate native plants
and learn how to help birds,
butterflies & pollinators!

Come celebrate and learn more about our new Burke Plants for Birds demonstration garden through this multimedia program presented by garden designer Donna Lassiter and SMRA Executive Director Anne Swaim. Learn how you can add native plants to benefit birds, butterflies, other pollinators and other wildlife.

desserts to share or photos to show.

Submit photos to share by Fri 12/7

Join us for this fun and informal event where members and friends of Saw Mill River Audubon share photographic highlights of their past year of birding and nature exploration, and share holiday desserts. Let us know if you would like to share 2-5 of your best photographs at this event by emailing our office by December 10. Bring holiday desserts to share and exchange.
(It is also very okay to come without desserts or photos!)

Submit digital photos to share by Friday, December 7 by emailing them to the office of Saw Mill River Audubon. Please limit to 3-5 photos per person and note date, location, subject of photo. We may need to limit photo selections for program length and we’ll let photographers know what to expect before the program.  Either you or our program MC can describe your photo(s) when on the screen.
