Sunflower Seed

All forms of sunflower seed attract most seed eating birds. The striped generally has larger seeds. The black oil gives the birds more energy and a more consistent smaller seed and thinner shell. The coarse sunflower chips leave no hull residue.

Mixed Seed

Mixed seed contains a percentage of sunflower seeds as well as other types of seed. As in past years, we offer a customized SMRA mix. The Economy mix may be preferred by those who want to cut down on the sunflower seed to reduce the amount of hulls under a feeder and increase the millets preferred by sparrows and mourning doves. The No Mess Mix will leave no residue because all hulls and shells are removed. Mixed seed compositions are listed individually below.

Suet

Suet is animal fat. It is the most concentrated source of energy you can offer wild birds. Particularly attracts woodpeckers, but also nuthatches and chickadees or other insect-eating birds overwintering in our area. Best offered in a hanging wire mesh feeder to avoid midnight raccoon raids. We are offering suet mixed with seed available in single 11 oz cakes or in a box of 12 cakes.

NEW INVENTORY AVAILABLE 9/15/23 Let us know your payment and pick up plans. Please wait for us to confirm those arrangements before traveling to Pruyn Sanctuary. Please allow at least 4 hours notice and, even better, a day's notice between your order and seed pick up. Please consider M/W/F 11am-4pm office hour pickups, if possible, OR come on our 3rd Sat morning staffed pickup times, Nov through Apr. First staffed pickup will be Sat Oct 7, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm
