celebrating local bird photographers!

Saw Mill River Audubon celebrates our regional bird photographers by creating an annual calendar of New York birds.

Our last six years of calendars had some phenomenal photographs!

We are now seeking exceptional bird images to publish in our 2027 New York Birds calendar.

Photo selection guidelines:
* Please select clear images with bird(s) that fill the frame as much as possible, depending on layout.
* Note that a high-resolution photo will be needed for calendar reproduction.
* But you do NOT need to send highest-res photo for entry.
* Smaller file size transmits better through our form.
* Only submit birds photographed within New York state.
* Photographs do NOT need to be taken during 2026.

ENTRIES WILL OPEN May 15, 2026 | DEADLINE for entries is July 1, 2026

By July 10, 2026, we will contact all photographers who sent photos to let them know whether their photos were selected.

*** Please note that not all entries will be published.  We reserve the right to select photos of our choosing for this calendar.  And, if your photograph is selected but you are unable to provide a high enough resolution photo for printing of at least 300 DPI, we will, regretfully, have to miss including your photo in the calendar.

To enter your photos, send an email to our office with the following:

  • Up to five attached photos — they do NOT need to be highest resolution for this review, smaller file size is helpful
  • Date of photo — can be generalized with just month or just season
  • Location of photo — preference is actual site name in New York state
  • Species shown in the photo 
  • Complete name of photographer as you would want it shown in caption

Then pay for your entries at $10/photo. Use this secure online form or with Zelle to smrapay@gmail.com. Thank you for supporting our local conservation and education work with your entry fee.

Entry Fee Per Photo

In support of the local conservation & education work for Saw Mill River Audubon, we are requiring a $10/photo entry fee. Payable by MasterCard or Visa online or by check mailed to our office. The submission fee for photo is not a guarantee that your photo will be selected for use in the calendar. See payment info in the confirmation email we will send you after you submit your photo(s).
