trail maintenance workshop

Saw Mill River Audubon offered an online “Trail Walkers and Maintainers” workshop on May 20, 2020 led by SMRA Board Member Phil Heidelberger.

Do you love the outdoors? Please help us keep our sanctuaries beautiful and great places to visit by becoming an SMRA Trail Walker or Maintainer. Walkers and Maintainers visit a sanctuary regularly and report on conditions. Maintainers also perform modest maintenance activities such as clearing away vegetation that is growing onto the trails.

This online workshop covered the basics of maintaining and reporting on the conditions of our trails. Proper maintenance is more important than ever due to the increased number of visitors to our sanctuaries. This workshop and the volunteer work days that followed were supported by a National Audubon Chapter Collaborative Grant.

You can view the video of the workshop below and also download the images of the PowerPoint presentation.
